Peter Shatalow is experienced in all aspects of film, television and new media production. He is an award winning producer, writer, director, cinematographer and editor. He has directed feature
films, shot in 35 mm, with huge crews, as well as almost single-handedly completing nationally broadcast documentaries in HD. Shatalow has produced, directed and edited Genie nominated feature films as well
as
award winning documentaries. Shatalow's award
winning documentaries, include BLACK ICE, a theatrical short for the NFB, which has won over fifteen international awards. His Rocky Mountain adventure film CHALLENGE: THE CANADIAN ROCKIES, narrated by PETER USTINOV, earned the CFTA Award for BEST OVERALL PRODUCTION. Other efforts include HEART OF GOLD, the critically acclaimed three hour series about the Canadian music industry, narrated by Donal Sutherland. Peter also wrote and edited THE PAPAL VISIT - BEHIND THE SCENES, for CTV, a New York Film Festival medallist. His first feature film BLUE CITY SLAMMERS, received three Genie nominations. RIVER ROAD, his second picture, featured Academy Award nominee Graham Greene.
Other productions include WILD BILL LISHMAN for CBC's Life & Times, as well as THE BRONCOS, a commission about the creation of seven bronze
Broncos for the new Denver Football Stadium. FLIGHT OF THE WHOOPING CRANE, a documentary
for CBC's "Nature of Things", was an award winner in the Japanese Wildlife Festival and ‘Silver Chris’ Award from the Columbus International Film Festival. Peter
also produced EARTH ENERGY for CBC Nature of Things. Shatalow recently released LAST STAND, a documentary exploring the history
of the proposed Pickering Airport and STREET THEATRE, highlighting the world's best busker, on DVD.. He had also completed, METAL WORKS and he was DOP on 3rd WORLD CANADA. Peter is always looking for challenging projects.
